The heart has four chambers. The right side sends blood to the lungs, and the left side sends oxygen-rich blood to the body.

Heart valves open and close as pressure changes, helping blood move forward through the heart.

The knee joins the thighbone and shinbone. Cartilage cushions their surfaces, while ligaments help stabilise the joint as it bends and straightens.

Discs cushion the bones of the spine. A herniated disc can press on a nearby nerve and cause pain, numbness or weakness.

During inhalation, the diaphragm contracts and moves downward, increasing space in the chest. During exhalation, it relaxes and rises as the lungs recoil.

Tiny air sacs called alveoli are surrounded by capillaries. Oxygen passes into the blood, while carbon dioxide moves into the air sacs to be breathed out.

Nerve cells communicate across tiny gaps called synapses. Chemical messengers cross the gap and bind to receptors on the next cell, helping pass the signal onward.

A dental implant supports a replacement tooth. This animation shows how the implant, connecting abutment and crown fit together; healing and treatment occur over a much longer period.

Acids produced by bacteria can weaken enamel and lead to a cavity. This simplified animation shows decay developing in a molar; the process is accelerated for illustration.
